Beacon staff members take part in professional training regarding sustainability

Beacon has established a partnership with Reconectta, a company that applies values and the culture of sustainability. As a starting point, school teams took part in the lecture “Hands that Care”. The scope was based on concepts of sustainability as a whole, as well as the environment, in addition to internal balance and that of relationships between people.

The pedagogical team also discussed meanings and capabilities of environmental education for sustainability at school, methodologies for the creation of lesson plans and interdisciplinary didactic sequences.

The Beacon staff has split into groups in order to reflect on how to reduce school waste and increase the productivity of the resources that are already used. Actions such as recycling and use of natural light were highlighted in the debate. As a closure, the speaker mentioned the four R’s on how to be sustainable: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
