Y6 visits Paraty to discuss environmental and social issues

The Field Trip conducted in Paraty invited Y6 students to investigate the factors that led the city to be recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visits to local traditional communities (quilombola, indigenous, and caiçara) opened the students’ eyes to their importance in achieving this title, understanding how their sustainable way of life supports the preservation of the Atlantic Forest, our Natural Heritage. Back at school and in their studies of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students connected them with their observations and experiences related to the culture of these communities and developed a panel to share what they learned.
